The facts: The Mariners improved to 5-1 when they bounced back from a loss to Cleveland by sweeping a split-squad doubleheader Monday against Colorado in Peoria and Cincinnati in Goodyear.
Plays of the game: Chris Taylor’s grand slam in the seventh inning against the Reds completed a comeback from a four-run deficit…Dustin Ackley’s three-run double capped a five-run fifth that snapped a 1-1 tie against the Rockies.
Plus: Ackley is off to a hot start with six hits and six RBIs in 10 at-bats…Robinson Cano was two for three against the Rockies and has five hits in nine at-bats.
Minus: The Mariners committed five errors in their victory over the Reds. Three came in a four-run third inning, including two on one play by third baseman Nate Tenbrink. But Tenbrink also went two for three, including a leadoff single prior to Taylor’s slam in the seventh.
