Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks’ Jordyn Brooks questionable; Kenneth Walker, DK Metcalf full go; a new QB

Jordyn Brooks was back, though he may not have been thrilled to be.

The Seahawks’ linebacker was full go with teammates at the start of practice outside in a pouring rain Friday, two days before forecasts for a chance of rain when Seattle (5-3) hosts Washington (4-5) at Lumen Field.

“We got everything we were seeking,” by practicing outside Friday, coach Pete Carroll said.

The Seahawks listed Brooks as questionable to play Sunday. But Carroll said how he looked at practice Friday indicates his weakside linebacker is likely to start next to Bobby Wagner again versus the Commanders.

“Yeah, he did well today. There’s a really good chance,” Carroll said.

Brooks missed practices Wednesday and Thursday with a new hamstring injury he got in the team’s loss last weekend at Baltimore.

Wide receiver DK Metcalf is full go and not on the injury report for the game. He missed another midweek practice Thursday resting his pained hip.

Lead running back Kenneth Walker also is full go and not on the injury report. He missed practice Wednesday because of a chest injury. He practiced fully on Thursday.

The Seahawks need to get Walker going offensively. He carried the ball six times in the first 29 plays while the game was still semi-close last weekend at Baltimore. Smith, coach Pete Carroll and play caller Shane Waldron spent this week — again — saying the offense needs to run the ball with Walker more.

He and number-two back Zach Charbonnet have combined for just 13 carries in each of Seattle’s last two games. The Seahawks ran for 28 yards against the Ravens and lost 37-3. It was a 7-0 and 14-3 game in the second quarter.

Kenny McIntosh debut?

The Seahawks listed rookie running back Kenny McIntosh and reserve tight end Colby Parkinson (biceps) questionable, though Carroll said physically both appear good to play Sunday.

McIntosh is still in a 21-day window in which he is practicing and roster exempt coming off the injured reserve list. For him to make his Seahawks and NFL debut Sunday the Seahawks need to add him to the active roster by Saturday afternoon.

The team has an open spot on its 53-man roster after it released nose tackle Austin Faoliu from it on Tuesday.

“Kenny’s ready to go. We’ll figure out how that’s going to work out. We don’t know yet,” Carroll said.

Running back and kick returner DeeJay Dallas practiced for fully for the first time since he left the Ravens game with a shoulder injury. Carroll said he’s on track to play Sunday, too.

“We’ve got some decisions to make,” on healthy scratches and who is inactive for the game Sunday, Carroll said.

Rookie guard Anthony Bradford is out for Sunday’s game because of a knee injury and personal issue. He’s started four games but is back to second string with starter Phil Haynes returning from a calf injury last week.

Brett Rypien signed

The Seahawks signed quarterback Brett Rypien from Spokane to the practice squad to be the number-three behind Geno Smith and Drew Lock.

Rypien, 27, started a game last weekend for the Los Angeles Rams, at Green Bay. L.A. released him Tuesday, two days after its 20-3 loss to the Packers.

The Seahawks play the Rams in Inglewood, California, next week. So, yes, that’s part of why Seattle signed him.

Rypien is a Spokane native and the nephew of former NFL Super Bowl champion quarterback Mark Rypien from Washington State.

The Seahawks had gone with two quarterbacks since Oct. 18 when they released rookie Holton Ahlers from the practice squad.

Seattle waived defensive tackle Matt Gotel from Lakes High School off its practice squad.
