Seahawks’ Michael Dickson passes pregame test to punt at Arizona. Kenneth Walker inactive
Already in full uniform two hours before kickoff, Michael Dickson came onto the field at State Farm Stadium shortly after noon. He booted some punts.
With no ill effects.
That’s when the Seahawks decided Sunday their punter was past his back spasms and would be playing in their showdown with the Arizona Cardinals for the NFC West lead.
Dickson missed the final 1 1/2 quarters of Seattle’s win at the New York Jets the previous week. He was a partial participant in practice this past week.
The Seahawks signed former Los Angeles Rams punter Ty Zentner to the practice squad Friday, then elevated him Saturday and flew him with the team to Arizona to be available to play Sunday if Dickson couldn’t.
Instead, Zentner was inactive for the game. He earned $44,000 for the transactions coach Mike Macdonald called “a contingency plan.”
Kenneth Walker was also inactive. The Seahawks declared their leading scorer out for this game on Saturday, because of ankle and calf injuries. The lead running back missed a game because of injury for the third time this season. Walker missed two games in September with an oblique issue.
Other inactive Seahawks
Seattle’s other inactive players Sunday were backups: cornerback Tre Brown (hamstring injury), reserve safety AJ Finley, linebacker Trevis Gipson, linebacker Patrick O’Connell and wide receiver Cody White.
