Well, it was an interesting postgame locker room, beyond just the relief felt from winning the game.
After almost everybody had cleared out of the locker room, Matt Hasselbeck was back in the bathroom retching. Not once. Not twice. But three times. When he met with the media in front of his locker, he said, "I'm just exhausted." He did not look good. Glassy-eyed. Beat up. Lofa was very complimentary about how tough Matt is -- then took it back when he heard him start retching. Matt basically said the adjustments they made in the second half were to try to stop guessing what St. Louis was doing and just snap the ball because they kept guessing wrong in the first half and he was getting killed. He said he still doesn't know what St. Louis was doing to have such a successful pass rush, but in the second half instead of outhinking the Rams they just played football.
On the interception, he said Burleson was supposed to run a corner route and Burleson flattened out his pattern because there was a defender hard to his outside.
Mike Holmgren was deeply relieved after the win, admitting that they were very fortunate and probably did not deserve to win the game, but since they did deserve to win the Arizona game he figured things evened out.
He did say he considered punting on Josh Brown's missed field goal attempt but wanted to go up 8. He was not happy with the high snap and thought that had something to do with Brown's miss. Josh left the locker room before I had a chance to talk to him so I didn't get what happened from his perspective.
Hackett's injury sounds pretty serious, "problematic," as Holmgren called it. Lofa has an oblique injury. Holmgren joked that in 21 years of coaching he didn't even know what an oblique was and now three of his players have suffered the same injury. Lofa said the ref jinxed him because before the game he came up and said, "Good luck and good health." He said it was the first time a ref has ever said that to him.
Josh Wilson said he was not supposed to take field the kickoff that he returned for a touchdown, but he thought it was between he and Burleson and so he fielded it. Once he did, he said Nate just yelled "Go," and so, Wilson said, "I started running like Forrest Gump." He said David Kirtman and Ben Joppru got the blocks that sprang him and he didn't cut back against Cincinnati, I believe, so he learned from that earlier mistake and cut it back against the kicker in this one.
Kerney was pretty pumped after the game because he was credited with three sacks instead of two. Initially, Craig Terrill was given Kerney's third sack but it was then given to Kerney. Kerney was supposed to do a phone interview in the locker room but he had to put if off because his arm was cramping and he couldn't hold the phone.
That's it for now, I'll post quotes as we go along but I have to start writing my daily stuff.
