I just got in from San Francisco and read this report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, who says according to a league source Matt Hasselbeck suffered a fractured rib on the hit from San Francisco linebacker Patrick Willis on Sunday, and his status for Week 3 is uncertain.
Hasselbeck posted on his twitter account late Sunday that he was doing fine. The team has released no further information on Hasselbeck's status, and we are expected to find out more at this afternoon's press conference with Seahawks head coach Jim Mora.
Recently, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb suffered a similar broken rib injury that kept him out of Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. So it's possible Hasselbeck could miss this Sunday's game against Chicago of the team decides it has a better chance with a healthy Seneca Wallace.
Also, it appears the hit caused no ill effects to Hasselbeck's back, so the team probably feels like they avoided a major blow and would rather have their starting quarterback fully healthy in a couple weeks instead of risking further injury on Sunday.
