The four-year pro visited both teams, but hasn't saw any regular season action as the third-string quarterback for the Chargers. San Diego tendered him with a third-round pick, so if Seattle signs him they would have to give up a third round pick to the Chargers as compensation. Of course, the Seahawks do not have a third-round pick, so some time of deal would have to be struck if the Seahawks pursue him.
Derek Anderson has visited both teams as well, so whatever team does not get Whitehurst likely will pursue Anderson.
In his fourth year out of Clemson, Whitehurst moves pretty well and has been coached by a pretty good offensive mind in Norv Turner. He's 27 years old, so he could be a good guy for Seattle to get in order to groom for a potential replacement to Hasselbeck.
