Denver Post columnist Dave Krieger offers a different perspective on WR Brandon Marshall. Krieger believes Marshall has become somewhat of a caricature in the media because of his off-the-field transgressions, which include his role in the death of former Broncos teammate Darrent Williams. But Krieger notes some of the good things Marshall has done in Denver, including mentoring at-risk youth once a week during the 2008 season.
Maybe it would be better for all concerned if Marshall got a fresh start elsewhere. That’s the Broncos’ call now.
But he is not a caricature. He is a bright, emotional, conflicted, accomplished athlete. And he has tried, through engagement with Open Door and his trial testimony, to compensate for whatever role he played in that tragedy more than three years ago.
