Marshawn Lynch gave NFL Network analyst and former Seahawks teammate Michael Robinson a sit-down interview upon the team's arrival here in Philadelphia this weekend. The interview aired this morning.
You can watch it here: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-gameday/0ap3000000439544/Beastmode-opens-up
There wasn't a lot lot new or earth-shattering in it. A few of the standout items:
"Why do you have that relationship (funny choice of a word) with the media?"
Lynch: "I guess they just want to talk to your boy. ... But I ain't got nothing to say. I just want to play football."
He chuckled at that.
Asked by Robinson, "Is this your last year?" Lynch said:
"I'm still under contract (for 2015). I mean, I haven't even made it through this year, you know what I'm saying. I'm chasing after another one of these right here (pointing to his Seahawks' Super Bowl ring).
He also talked about how a strong run game "manages the game," keeps the Seahawks' defense on the field, takes the pressure off the quarterback. And when Robinson asked him, "What would you say to a 20-year-old Marshawn?" Lynch said: “Probably first off telling him don’t regret none of the decisions that you make because they’re going to make you into who you’re going to grow in to. I mean from the bad to the good, to the pretty and the ugly. ... So 28 year-old Marshawn (would) tell 20 year-old Marshawn get ready for a whirlwind…because it’s not going to be pretty.”
The airing this morning cut out this part of that final comment, which the NFL Network had sent me last night as an advance to the interview: "But if you stay true and focused to yourself, then whatever is going on around you won’t mean (expletive)."
The league-owned network aired about 2 1/2 minutes of Lynch talking with Robinson.
