The Seahawks are expected to sign former University of Washington wide receiver Kevin Smith today.
UPDATE: The Seahawks made this official.
John Boyle of the Everett Herald
Adam Jude of the Seattle Times was the first to report the signing.
The Seahawks are looking at Smith as a possible special teams player. He was on kick coverage units at Washington and also returned kicks. He returned two punts.
In 2011, Smith's 25.9-yard average on kick returns was seventh-best in UW single-season history
Following the draft, Smith signed with the Arizona Cardinals before being released.
Smith has good size (5-11, 214) and speed. He impressed at Washington's Pro Day, which was heavily attended by Seahawks personnel.
Signing Smith pushes the Seahawks' roster back to the 90-player limit.
