Seahawks draft: Third-round reboot

We’re on to the third round in our look at John Schneider draft picks.

Away we go:

2010No third-round pick.

2011John Moffitt, OGOverview: This did not work. Moffitt was traded to the Cleveland Browns last summer, before the trade was rescinded. He was then traded to the Denver Broncos for defensive tackle Sealver Siliga. Siliga was released, brought back to the practice squad, then signed by the New England Patriots to their practice squad. He has 15 career tackles.

2012Russell Wilson, QBOverview: Contrary to Moffitt, you may have heard this worked. We don’t need to detail that much in this space.  The Vikings, Bills, Jaguars and Chiefs all could have selected Wilson in the third round before the Seahawks. Imagine him and Adrian Peterson? Or him as the offensive centerpiece for Gus Bradley? Or him with Jamaal Charles and the Chiefs’ defense?

2013Jordan Hill, DTOverview: Hill played little in seven games last year, though he should get more of a chance this season. Like much of the 2013 Seahawks draft class, their impact is expected to be felt more this season. Here’s John Schneider on the 2013 draft before the playoffs this season:

“I think this year’s draft was a little bit more toward 2014 than it was 2013. You never want to see guys getting hurt with Tharold (Simon) and Jesse (Williams) and Jordan’s never really been able to let it rip and Christine’s had a hard time because Robert (Turbin) has stepped up. I guess the way I view it is it’s more about looking toward next year with these guys, and I think they’d all tell you they were extremely excited about next year.”

2014No pick. The Minnesota Vikings have Seattle’s pick, which will be 96th overall, following the Percy Harvin trade.
