Seahawks take S Eric Pinkins in sixth round

With their second pick of the sixth round, the Seahawks selected safety Eric Pinkins of San Diego State.

Pinkins is 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds who ran a 4.44-second 40-yard dash at his pro day. He met with the Seahawks and they talked about using him at cornerback.

Here's a scouting report on Pinkins.

Despite the impressive numbers, Pinkins was not invited to the NFL Combine.

Pinkins was a two-year starter at "warrior" safety for San Diego State. He had 75 tackles in 2013, which were second on the team. He also had four pass breakups and forced two fumbles.

"We guard the slot receiver a lot, man-to-man," Pinkins said. "Sometimes we're blitzing off the edge, sometimes we're in the box. Just depends on the formation."

The most intriguing thing about Pinkins is the possibility of the Seahawks playing him at cornerback.

"I'm used to guarding receivers a lot," Pinkins said. "I have cornerback speed and I'm just going to learn from the best of the best, the Legion of Boom."

Pinkins said the Miami Dolphins also talked to him about the possibility of playing cornerback.
