Walter Jones named to Pro Football Hall of Fame; Kuechly Defensive Player of the Year

As expected, the sun came up and legendary Seahawks left tackle Walter Jones moved from finalist to pending inductee to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday. Jones is a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Our Dave Boling on the Big Walt going into the Hall of Fame.

The full Hall of Fame class: Jones, Ray Guy, Claude Humphrey, Derrick Brooks, Michael Strahan, Andre Reed and Aeneas Williams.

Things didn't go so well otherwise for the Seahawks at the NFL Honors. Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly was named Defensive Player of the Year. Earl Thomas finished third and Richard Sherman finished fifth.

Here's the full voting, via Tim Booth of the Associated Press.  You can see that even if Thomas and Sherman "split" their votes, they were still well behind Kuechly (reminder, AP writers don't vote, they facilitate. It's other writers from multiple organizations who vote):
