Sankey with a solid day

Bishop Sankey did nothing to hurt his draft status Sunday at the combine.

He ran a brisk 4.49 in the 40-yard dash, which was ahead of reputed speedsters De'Anthony Thomas (4.5) of Oregon, Lache Seastrunk (4.51) of Baylor and Tre Mason (4.5) of Auburn. Kent State back Dri Archer ran a blistering 4.26. Archer led FBS with three kick returns for touchdowns last year.

Sankey also did well in the bench press, putting up 26 reps, which was second-most. In addition, Sankey had solid vertical and broad jump numbers.

However, the combine doesn't measure his best attribute, which is field vision. A strong day in drills combined with plenty of tape that shows correct and decisive cuts has Sankey solidly positioned for the coming draft.
