Sunday primer: Videos, schedule, bacon and more

Good morning, football fans.

We're going to introduce something new here this Sunday. It's called the Sunday primer.

The goal is to inform, amuse and include.

So, here goes:

Non-Seahawks game of the day:

Indianapolis (1-1) at San Francisco (1-1)

As we've talked about a lot here, San Francisco heads into this game with issues. Aldon Smith's DUI and head coach Jim Harbaugh's handling of it come a week after the 49ers were handled by the Seahawks. Considering Indianapolis coach Chuck Pagano is back full-time from last season's leukemia treatments, it's a good thing this game won't be scored on national sentiment. That would be a blowout. As far as football, the debut of RB Trent Richardson is on tap, 49ers TE Vernon Davis is questionable and Harbaugh faces former pupil Andrew Luck.

View from the other side:

> "Seahawks fuss over Gus, but are expected to rout him" From the Florida Times-Union:

The program built by Seattle coach Pete Carroll is being used by former Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley as he tries to rebuild the Jaguars.

No one knows this more than Seattle defensive tackle D’Anthony Smith. He spent the entire offseason with the Jaguars before being traded to the Seahawks on Aug. 31.

The transition was easy for Smith.

“I was laughing a lot the first week I was here, because the environment is so similar,” Smith said. “It’s laid back and player friendly. It’s the same principle in terms of competition and competing every day. Play hard, play fast. That’s what they do there and they do it at a higher level here.”

A request:

In this spot each week, I'd like to print a favorite Seahawks memory from a reader. So, email me (todd.dybas@thenewstribune.com) with your favorite Seahawk memory and blog handle. We'll hopefully start filling this space with them next week.
