Quick notes from Carroll presser

Although cagey again with some of the injury info, Pete Carroll ruled Zach Miller (foot), Sidney Rice (knee), Jessie Williams (knee), Jordan Hill (bicep)  and Mike Robinson (illness) out for the Friday game against the Packers in Green Bay.

Miller and Rice are expected to be ready for the season opener and Carroll said they're being conservative with their health management. Hill will be day-to-day or week-to-week with a strained bicep, Carroll said, dismissing as incorrect the speculation that he'll miss 3-6 weeks.

Cliff Avril (hamstring), Bruce Irvin (groin) and Antoine Winfield will be game-time considerations. Avril and Irvin have been eased back into action after earlier injuries, while Winfield appeared to develop a sore knee this week in practice.

Carroll said that James Carpenter is "getting close" to being back from his foot injury.  And Tony McDaniel will start at the 3 technique DT after missing action most of the preseason. "This is his turn, now," Carroll said.

Asked about the Seahawks' seven consecutive wins in preseason games, Carroll said they do very little game planning for preseason games, but they do take them very seriously from a competition standpoint. "Preseason is really important to us ... we take them very seriously ... I do not blow these games off."

He also thought the ESPN magazine story about the Seahawks employing yoga as a training technique over-dramatized the case.
