ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that veteran free agent cornerback Antoine Winfield is close to agreeing to contract terms wit the Seattle Seahawks.
Winfield, who turns 36 in June, visited the team’s facility on Tuesday. If Seattle did reach an agreement with Winfield, he likely would compete with Walter Thurmond and Will Blackmon for the team’s nickel cornerback position.
The addition of Winfield also would mean that Seattle probably would not bring back veteran Marcus Trufant.
However, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings, Winfield’s former team, is making a late push, and the veteran corner is weighing the two offers.
