Browner on suspension: "Sometimes you make mistakes."

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner talked to reporters before practice today for the first time since returning to the team after serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substance policy.

“Sometimes you make mistakes,” said Browner, when asked why he dropped his appeal with the league on the issue. “And I was fortunate enough that the guys continued to win and things like that.”

Browner said that although he couldn’t play, he enjoyed watching his teammates continue to play well in his absence.

“It was fun because we were kicking everybody’s butt,” Browner said about his time away. “I was missing not playing with the guys, but it was awesome to watch from that perspective, you know what I mean, because the progression of our quarterback is awesome. He’s playing like one of the elite quarterbacks, and then our defense is playing lights out. They’re playing like when I left. They didn’t skip a beat.”

“I went back home, man,” Browner said. “I couldn’t find it in myself, working out here and then it’s raining a lot and I wasn’t coming up here. So it would have been weird to go somewhere I didn’t know or to some park around here.”

So will Browner be ready?

“Most definitely,” he said. “It starts in the head. I’m mentally tough. I know I’ll be a little tired out there, but at the end of the day I’m fighting for a playoff victory. I’ll be all right.”
