Morning links: Lynch exceeding expectations

Dave Boling of The News Tribune picks up on one of the storylines underplayed in Seattle’s big win over Arizona on Sunday -- Marshawn Lynch is pretty special.

Since the midseason trade with Buffalo that brought Lynch to Seattle in 2010, he’s giving the Seahawks a rough-and-tumble identity on offense. And while it took some time for Tom Cable's zone blocking scheme to click, Seattle is hitting on all cylinders in the run game. Lynch established a career-high for rushing yards in a season against the Cardinals at 1,266 yards through 13 games.

Boling: “Some observers wondered if Lynch would sustain his jackhammer rushing style after he signed a big contract (four years, $32 million, $17 million guaranteed) in March. If anything, he’s actually running better and more effectively, with his 4.9-yard average much improved from last year (4.2).”
