Seahawks inactives: Trufant out

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said although veteran cornerback Marcus Trufant did not practice on Thursday and Friday that he would be fine for today’s game.

However, that turns out not to be the case, as Trufant is not active for today’s game because of a balky back,

That means second-year pro Walter Thurmond will get the start. And when Seattle goes nickel, Thurmond will slide inside and Richard Shreman will play outside.

Second-year linebacker Jameson Konz gets his first chance to see what he can do, as both he and David Vobora are active today. Rookie linebacker Malcolm Smith is out with a hamstring injury.

Ben Obomanu will start for Mile Williams, who was ruled out on Friday with a concussion. Rooke receiver Kris Durham and defensive lineman Al Wood also are active.

For New York, Jason Pierre-Paul will start for Justin Tuck (groin/neck) at defensive end. And Kevin Boothe will start for David Baas (neck) at center.

Here’s the rest of the list.
