A hat tip goes out to KJR’s Curtis Crabtree, who confirms that the Seattle Seahawks have not wasted much time trying to fill the kicker job left vacant by the apparent departure of Olindo Mare.
Crabtree reports that according to his agent, Auburn kicker, undrafted rookie free agent Wes Byrum has signed with Seattle. The Huntsville Times confirms this report.
Byrum leaves Auburn as the school’s all-time leading scorer, and kicked the winning field goal in the Tigers 22-19 victory over Oregon for the National Championship.
I imagine Byrum will have some competition in camp for the kicker job, so we’ll keep an eye out for another kicker added to the roster.
