Hawks sign WR Jones, Okung out 2-4 weeks

First reported by ESPN's John Clayton, the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with former San Francisco receiver Brandon Jones today.

Jones, who was released by the Niners after falling on the depth chart, is a big receiver with the ability to stretch the field.

With all of the talk about Seattle pursuing San Diego restricted free agent Vincent Jackson, this move comes a mild surprise. It will be interesting to see how Jones fits in with the rest of the receivers on the roster.

Seattle now has 10 receivers on the 80-man roster.

Also, Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network is reporting that after an MRI today offensive tackle Russell Okung will miss 2-4 weeks, which means he is done for the preseason but will push to make the team's regular-season opener against San Francisco on Sept. 12.

The team has not confirmed this report. But if this is true, it's good news for the Seahawks. It appeared Okung may have had a high ankle sprain, which would have meant more time missed to heal.
