Practice opens in about 10 minutes.
But to quickly address the Chris Spencer question. I was entirely skeptical about his move back to center. I saw Unger as a more natural there, and I felt once Spencer was relieved of the line calls, he seemed to be freer to just play instinctively at guard toward the end of the season.
Heading into the off-season, I thought Spencer would either be at guard or he'd be gone. Obviously, they saw advantage in switching them back. It's possible that the zone-blocking scheme might reduce the demands on the center for making line calls.
Not a knock on Spencer's motivation or intent, but I didn't see much evidence that he really played "tough" over the years.
Alex Gibbs will not stand for that. I haven't seen Gibbs singling him out for extra attention on the practice field, but I don't think you have much choice about being ornery up there when Gibbs is in control. The net effect on Spencer should be positive.
