National media including ESPN and NFL Network already here with us regulars prior to the start of the fifth organized team activities practice number five for the Seahawks at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton.
No, they aren't amped for OTAs. Today is the first OTA practice open to the media in which Russell Wilson and Jimmy Graham are participating. This will be Wilson's first (football) media availability since the Super Bowl on Feb. 1 (he talked on the March day in Arizona when he did his cameo at Texas Rangers' spring-training camp, but not about what he will get asked about today).
Not that I expect Wilson to be all that revealing about his thoughts of his agent's slowed negotiations with the Seahawks on a new contract. Those talks began in earnest in February but remain a top issue here in June. The potential windfall for Wilson seemingly became more defined Monday when news broke that Carolina QB Cam Newton -- a career sub-.500 starter who has been to two fewer Super Bowls than Wilson, which is to say, zero -- has agreed to a five-year, $100 million contract extension.
I'll have all that Wilson and Graham do and anything they say here on the blog as the afternoon progresses.
