The Seahawks have their lightest of 12 training-camp practices so far this morning before they will get on a plane bound for Kansas City for Saturday’s first preseason game against the Chiefs. It kicks off at 1:30 p.m. Pacific Time.

Bobby Wagner remembers his first preseason game.

Because of Ken Norton Jr.

Wagner was the Seahawks’ rookie second-round draft choice in 2012, carrying with him from Utah State a chip on his shoulder. He thought he should have been a first-round pick.

Seattle was hosting the Tennessee Titans on Aug. 11, 2012. Wagner was in the locker room at CenturyLink Field for the first time, readying for his first NFL “game.” Norton was Wagner’s new linebackers coach; he’s now in his second season as the defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders.

To hear Wagner tell it, Norton was messing with his eventual All-Pro middle linebacker minutes before his exhibition debut.
