Seattle Sounders FC today announced that it is holding local open tryouts for Sounders FC 2 (S2) in Tukwila at Starfire Sports on February 13-14. A minimum of one player from the tryouts is guaranteed a trial with S2, Sounders FC's new USL PRO team that begins play in March. "The greater Seattle area has a long history of competitive youth, amateur and professional soccer, which has produced many great players," said S2 General Manager Andrew Opatkiewicz. "Since S2 allows us to develop more players in our system that hope to make the First Team one day, open tryouts are a great way to look at the best players in the area. Someone is going to come into preseason, and it'll be exciting to see the players coming from tryouts competing for a professional contract."

Players will be assessed by members of the Sounders FC technical staff, including S2 Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson and Sounders FC Head Scout and Assistant Coach Kurt Schmid. "We expect players from all over to be present at this tryout, but we are excited to see all of the local talent playing in Seattle," said Hendrickson. "We are going to take a hard look at the players who come and try to earn their place as we start building the roster for the upcoming season." Tryouts are open to male soccer players ages 18 and older. Check-in is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. PST on Friday, February 13 with games starting at 4:30 p.m. PST. Select participants will be chosen to compete in a full-sided game on Saturday, February 14 at 1:30 p.m. PST. The registration cost for each player is $150.
