Sounders take 1-1 record against winless Revs

DDC15Wednesday brings the third gameday of this Desert Diamond Cup. The Sounders will play at 5 PT against the New England Revolution.

That's the same team the Sounders will open the MLS season against on March 8, but coach Sigi Schmid indicated there's no real issue in that.

"Everything changes by the time we play our first game," he said. "Everybody right now in preseason is mixing a little bit and matching, and different groups end of playing."

Here are the standings at the midpoint of this Desert Diamond Cup:

Real Salt Lake 2-0-0Sporting KC 1-0-1Sounders 1-1-0Colorado 0-0-2New England 0-1-1Tucson FC 0-2-0

The standings after tonight's game will help determine the pairings for the tournament's final round on Saturday. However, seeding will not be the only factor considered.

"One of the stipulations are that they can create matchups in the last set of games so you’re not playing a team again, so you’re playing somebody different," Schmid said. "I think that’s what every wants that’s down here: You don’t want to end up playing two of the four games against the same team."
