Commissioner's kickoff message to supporters

And here it is:

Dear MLS Supporters,

Major League Soccer begins its 20th season this weekend with a full schedule of matches, kicking off tonight when the defending MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy host the Chicago Fire on UniMás.

Tonight's Galaxy-Fire match begins a new eight-year partnership with ESPN, Fox Sports and Univision Deportes, providing appointment viewing for MLS fans every Friday and Sunday. On March 8, our "MLS Soccer Sunday" debuts when expansion teams Orlando City SC and New York City FC meet in front of a sellout crowd of more than 62,000 fans at the Citrus Bowl on ESPN2, and Fox Sports 1 televises back-to-back MLS matches with Sporting Kansas City hosting the New York Red Bulls and Seattle Sounders FC welcoming 2014 MLS Cup runners-up, the New England Revolution.

We enter this season at a time of remarkable and rapid transformation, and thanks to you the sport of soccer continues to grow at all levels throughout the United States and Canada.

MLS continues to solidify itself as a "League of Choice," having attracted some of today's most exciting players from the United States, Canada and around the world. Thirteen players that captivated us all as part of the U.S. men's national team at the World Cup in Brazil will take the field this season in MLS, and we are also expecting up to 40 players from across the League to feature in this year's CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Later this month the San Jose Earthquakes inaugurate the League's 15th soccer venue, Avaya Stadium. And in a couple of weeks, the Montreal Impact will represent MLS in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League.

We join you in celebrating our 20th season and thank you for your continued support of MLS and the Beautiful Game.
