Dempsey, Pappa to miss Dallas as countries call

US SoccerCoach Sigi Schmid had speculated Friday that Clint Dempsey could be called away to the U.S. national team this week before the Sounders visit FC Dallas next weekend, and that became official today.

Guatemala also has called midfielder Marco Pappa.

U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann will bring 23 players to Europe for important friendlies against Denmark and Switzerland in preparation for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The U.S. faces Denmark on March 25 in Aarhus in the first meeting between the teams since 2009 (3 p.m. ET - ESPN2, WatchESPN, UniMas, UDN). Six days later, the USA meets Switzerland - one of the eight seeded teams in the 2014 FIFA World Cup - on March 31 in Zurich (Fox Sports 1, UniMas, UDN).

For a concurrent camp, U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team head coach Andi Herzog has called 18 players to Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina, for the U-23's first training camp of 2015 as the team begins its qualifying preparations for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

The team will train from March 23-26 and then face Bosnia's U-23 National Team on Friday, March 27, in Tuzla, before travelling to face Denmark on Tuesday, March 31.

Also in Europe, U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Tab Ramos has named the roster for the USA's first foreign training camp of the year from March 23-30 in England.

Twenty players are headed to the camp, which will include a closed door match against Tottenham Hotspur's Under-21 team on Friday, March 27 in London, followed by a matchup against England's Under-21 Men's National Team on Sunday, March 29 at 11 a.m. ET at Home Park in Plymouth. Admission to the game on Sunday is open to the public. Neither game will be streamed or televised.

This will be the U-20's first training camp of the year as the team continues its preparation for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, taking place this summer in New Zealand from May 30-June 20.
