The Sounders trained in the rain this morning at Starfire heading into a week that will feature a friendly against Tijuana on Tuesday and an MLS match at Dallas on Saturday.
Here are some personnel updates from coach Sigi Schmid:
On Micheal Azira and reports of a Uganda call up: He talked to them. He felt the call up came a little bit late in terms of notification. So he felt better about staying here. That was his decision talking to their federation. We have to respect the call up obviously, but we never got any direct communication from them. He was in communication with them.
On the still-absent Kenny Cooper: That’s a (general manager Garth Lagerwey) question. I don’t know where that sits right now. It’s still in the same limbo state where it was.
On Tyrone Mears and Osvaldo Alonso health: Both of them trained – went through the whole training today. They’re both doing some extra work with Dave (Tenney). They feel pretty good. We wanted to push them today and then see where they are tomorrow and that will give us a determination for both of them for the weekend.
