Sounders announce Sunday prematch activities

Seattle Sounders FC today announced several matchday activities ahead of Sunday's nationally televised match against the Portland Timbers (6:30 p.m. PT / FOX Sports 1). Head Coach Sigi Schmid and former goalkeeper and current broadcast analyst Kasey Keller are being honored pre-match for their National Soccer Hall of Fame inductions, while Seattle and Portland club owners Adrian Hanauer and Merritt Paulson are holding a town hall meeting with fans at THE NINETY. Sunday's match also marks the conclusion of Sounders FC's Impact Seattle Week, with 20 nonprofits in the CenturyLink Field North Plaza and the debut of GiveBIG's 2015 promotional video featuring Lamar Neagle at halftime of the match. Additionally, the American Red Cross will be onsite accepting donations to benefit the disaster relief fund for the earthquake that struck this morning outside of Kathmandu, Nepal.

Prior to Sunday's 6:30 p.m. PT kickoff, Schmid and Keller will be honored in front of the Sounders FC faithful for their recent induction into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the in-stadium tribute. Schmid, the all-time leader for wins as a Head Coach in Major League Soccer history, and Keller, a four-time FIFA World Cup Veteran, were announced as the newest members of the National Soccer Hall of Fame along with the late Glenn "Mooch" Myernick on April 8.

Sunday's match marks the conclusion of Sounders FC's Impact Seattle Week, the club's largest community outreach initiative of the year. The North Plaza of CenturyLink Field is set to feature more than 20 nonprofits involved in both Sounders FC's United in Green and GiveBIG 2015. As part of the match, GiveBIG's 2015 promotional video featuring Sounders FC's Lamar Neagle is set to debut in-stadium at halftime. The Seattle Foundation's GiveBIG is a one-day, online charitable giving event to inspire people to give generously to nonprofit organizations who make our region a healthier and more vital place to live. Sounders FC is hosting the GiveBIG headquarters on May 5 inside THE NINETY.

Upon arrival at the CenturyLink Field gates, volunteers from the American Red Cross are accepting donations to benefit the disaster relief fund for the earthquake that struck this morning outside of Kathmandu, Nepal. Donations will assist individuals affected by the earthquake in Nepal, enabling the Red Cross to respond to and help people recover from this disaster. Those not in attendance may support Red Cross relief efforts by texting "REDCROSS" to 90999 in order to donate $10.

Additionally, Sounders FC is hosting a town hall meeting prior to Sunday's match at THE NINETY featuring Seattle Owner Adrian Hanauer and Portland Owner Merritt Paulson. Fans have the opportunity to hear both owners provide updates on their respective clubs before hosting a question and answer session. The meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. PT inside THE NINETY, Sounders FC's Pioneer Square event space located at 406 Occidental Ave. S along the March to the Match route.

Sunday's March to the Match activities include a live canvas painting by Ejay O'Donnell beginning at 4:30 p.m. PT, and the announcement of Sounders FC's starting XI by former Sounder and current broadcast analyst Steve Zakuani prior to the March departing Occidental Park at 5:30 p.m. PT.
