Sounders introduce new Spanish radio home

Sounders FC today announced a new regional Spanish radio broadcast partnership for the 2015 season, with the club partnering with Sea Mar Community Health Centers to make El Rey 1360 AM the new Spanish-language home for Sounders FC matches. Going forward, El Rey 1360 AM now carries every Sounders FC match during the 2015 season, beginning this Saturday, May 9 against Columbus Crew SC.

"We are thrilled to reach an agreement with Sea Mar Community Health Centers to broadcast Sounders FC matches on El Rey 1360 AM," said Sounders FC Vice President of Business Development Brian Jones. "It is vital that the club be accessible to a Spanish-language audience, and we look forward to a new partnership with El Rey beginning this weekend with the Columbus match."

With play-by-play voice "Zuper" Mario Rodriguez and analyst Felipe Maqueda on the call, fans throughout Western Washington have the opportunity to hear Sounders FC action over the Spanish-language airwaves. El Rey 1360 AM also provides 30-minute pre-match and post-match shows as a part of their matchday coverage.

"I'm very excited to be the new Spanish-language radio voice of Sounders FC," said Rodriguez. "El Rey has followed the Rave Green since they joined MLS in 2009, and we couldn't be happier to now broadcast their matches over our airwaves."

Sea Mar Community Health Centers, the parent company of El Rey 1360 AM, is a community-based non-profit organization committed to providing quality comprehensive health and human services in Washington State. In addition to El Rey, Sea Mar's network of services includes more than 50 medical, dental and behavioral health clinics and centers, as well as a wide variety of nutritional, social and educational services.

Sounders FC returns to action this Saturday, May 9 with a road matchup against Columbus Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium (4:30 p.m. PT / Q13 FOX, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM).


Winner of the 2014 MLS Supporters' Shield and four Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championships (2009, 2010, 2011, 2014), Sounders FC is Seattle's Major League Soccer franchise. With an ownership group led by Majority Owner and Hollywood executive Joe Roth, Owner and Seattle-based entrepreneur Adrian Hanauer, Owner and Seattle Seahawks Chairman Paul G. Allen and actor Drew Carey, the club received an MLS charter on November 13, 2007 and has reached the MLS Cup Playoffs in every year of its existence. Since the club's debut MLS season in 2009, Sounders FC has set the standard for soccer support in North America, culminating in the top six single-season attendance totals in league history and an active streak of 111 consecutive MLS sellouts. Prior to joining MLS, the Seattle Sounders organization has been a part of the greater Seattle community and U.S. Soccer professional scene since 1974.
