Ljungberg's blog ... to announce future plans?

I mentioned in an earlier post that Freddie Ljungberg has started his own blog; so I asked him about that after Sounders practice today.

I intended the question in a fairly light way, but I got a surprisingly serious answer: "We’ve been seeing how the media has been developing lately and we felt that was probably the right way to go: If there are certain things, press releases or whatever going out ... having a connection with (the fans), that it would be easier to do it that way."

Hmm. The idea of creating a blog to put out his own press release suddenly seemed to connect with an earlier answer Ljungberg gave when asked today about his name continuing to come up regarding a possible return to Europe after this season.

"We’ll see what happens," Ljungberg said. "I want to concentrate now on the playoffs. We’re playing really well, and that’s really important for me now, and we’ll see what happens later on."

Ljungberg's agent -- Claes Elefalk -- happened to be at training today, coming from Sweden to visit Ljungberg and some clients he has in the National Hockey League. So I asked him if the blog had been created to give Ljungberg his own forum to explain a coming career move. Elefalk said no, and most repeated Ljungberg's answer that no decision had been made for after the season, but that all attention now is on the season at hand and the playoffs to follow.

Elefalk also said the blog has gotten off to a very good start in terms of worldwide pageviews. (This, of course, must be due largely to the link from the Sounders Insider.) Here one again is the link.
