Vancouver bolts from USL to new pro league

Vancouver-WhitecapsWe've heard it was going to happen, and now it has. The Vancouver Whitecaps will play next season in a new professional league before moving the following season into MLS.

The new league also will include the Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina RailHawks, Miami FC, Minnesota Thunder, Montreal Impact, and newly-created St. Louis Soccer United.

The new league begins play in April. and that means that past and future rivals Seattle, Portland and Vancouver will all be in different leagues this season before uniting into MLS in 2011.
