According to this report from Goal.com, and other sites, Sounders designated player Freddie Ljungberg has rejected a contract offer from Italian Serie A club Livorno. However, his agent, Claes Elefalk, indicates there are plenty of other offers out there, including many from Italy.
Elefalk has said before that Ljungberg would be interested only in Champions League-quality clubs. And it's a sure thing that that Ljungberg and Elefalk are keeping a close eye on the MLS' still-unresolved labor situation. However, the most relevant paragraph might have been this one from Elefalk:
"[David] Beckham's excellent return with Milan has led to clubs thinking the same will happen with Ljungberg. But we must remember he still has one year left on his deal with the Seattle Sounders."
