Schmid pleased as first phase of training ends

The Sounders had a light day on the field today, then did about a half-hour of weight work, and with that, this first local phase of trianing came to a close. Phase Two starts tomorrow as the team flies to Phoenix for fitness work and then their first preseason game.

Here's coach Sigi Schmid's overview on the local start.

"It was good. Obviously we worked pretty hard yesterday playing the two games on the big fields. You can see it in the guys' legs a little bit today. So today was just have 45 minutes on the field and then get some weight-training in. That was sort of the conclusion of Phase One. Then we fly down to Phoenix tomorrow, and then we dig in again. We work hard tomorrow afternoon and Thursday, Friday. Then we start to ease off Saturday and Sunday we'll play a little bit 11-v-11 and we'll get after it. I'm pleased with where we are right now."
