Sounders FC will hold two permanent places in the history of the Philadelphia Union.
Not only will the Sounders host the first game ever played by MLS's 16th club -- March 25 at Qwest Field -- but they also will be the guests on June 27 when the Union opens its new soccer-specific stadium in Chester, Penn. (The Union will play its first two home matches at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Eagles.) Here's more on that from the Philadelphia Daily News.
And there's another new pitch in the Sounders' future this season: Red Bulls Arena, where they will play May 15 ... and while the New York Daily News says wants to host MLS Cup this season ... perhaps the final awarded-neutral-side MLS Cup venue ever.
