Popular former Sounder Sebastien Le Toux sends along his good wishes to Puget Sound soccer fans in a brief phone interview I had with him this week in advance of his return tonight as a member of the Philadelphia Union.
His first thoughts on being selected in the expansion draft:I was of course a bit disappointed to leave Seattle. I really liked to play for this city and these fans. I was very happy in Seattle. But I think it can be a great positive for me to come to another team and another city and a great opportunity to play with this team, and so I’m pretty happy to be here. There is something good for my career.
On his experiences in Philadelphia:It’s different than last year in Seattle. In Seattle it was already a club and some people were already (familiar) from the other team. Here it’s completely new all the way, so it has a new-team feel. I think it’s good for us to start the season Thursday. Everybody is doing his job everyday in practice. Everybody is very excited to play for this new expansion team.
On returning to Seattle as a visitor:It’s a feeling I never had before. I’m pretty excited to come back to Seattle because I know it’s going to be a great place to play for opening. It’s been very very exciting for me.
