The Portland Timbers will find out this week whether they will pick first in the MLS expansion draft or the SuperDraft. They say their stadium work is on schedule, but in order to stay that way the current second-division team would have to find a new home for this season's playoffs. The club might name its coach in mid-August. And owner Merritt Paulson says PGE Park could be awarded an MLS All-Star Game "in the not-too-distant future."
(Which reminds me how surprising I find it that the All-Star Game isn't in Seattle this season and no announcement at all for every bringing the game here has been made.)
In any case, all of this from Geoffrey C. Arnold of the Oregonian.
