Zakuani had a goal and assist in Seattle’s 2-1 victory over Chivas USA on Friday at Qwest Field.
He previously won the honor for Week 17 when he scored twice against Colorado. Here's the release from MLS.
Sounders coach Sigi Schmid picked up at training today on Zakuani's great improvement in his second season.
"He's definitely matured as a player," Schmid said. "It's like I said after the game, there's no wide player in the league that's scored more goals than him. I think that's something you want. If you wide players are goal-dangerous, it makes a big difference. ... If yoiu're a wide guy and you're banging away goals like that it just makes your team that much more difficult to contain and unpredictable. Now you're getting goals across the width of the field, and that makes you a hard to team defend."
Statistically, Zakuani is tied with Fredy Montero for the team lead with 10 goals, and is second to Montero with six assists.
