Pregame: Real Salt Lake will visit Monterrey at 7 tonight in the first of a two-game set for the CONCACAF Champions League championship and the right to represent the region in the FIFA Club World Cup. The match will be shown live on Fox Soccer Channel.

Sounders coach Sigi Schmid was asked today about Monterrey, which beat the Sounders 2-0 and 3-2 during group play.

"Obviously, they’re a good team," he said. "We said when we started in group play last year that we were probably in the toughest group. Two of the four teams: You’ve got one team in the final and one team got knocked out in the semifinal. So I think it shows we were in the toughest group for sure. Monterrey is a difficult place to play. Their stadium is a difficult place to play. We were able to get up on them, but it was a game they didn’t necessarily need to win, so they probably approached the game a little bit differently and sat some players that are very important. But they are a team that probably over the last year and a half in Mexico has been the most consistent team."
