Beckham out, Noonan in, Zakuani works out...

Beckham is expected to miss his third straight league game with what he calls a “slight stress fracture of the spine.”

“The pain 10 days ago was bad,” Beckham told MLSsoccer.com after training Friday. “I hate missing games. I hate missing trainings. It’s been a miserable couple of weeks.”

A few other notes from training today at Starfire:

* We asked coach Sigi Schmid about the possible impact of re-signing veteran midfielder Pat Noonan through the end of the season. “He’s an intelligent player,” Schmid said. “He understands the game. People have to understand that he can sometimes offer us that little bit of thought, that cleverness in the final third of the field that makes a difference in being able to finish off a play and score a goal, and maybe not finishing off a play. So, he gives us that. He’s good in the air. He’s always been a good worker.”

*Sounders midfielder Steve Zakuani (leg fractures) donned a sweatsuit and did some light jogging and fitness work on the sideline during training at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila on Saturday – the first time since his injury.

*The Galaxy has revealed a darker blue kit with lighter gold trim that it will play in for the first time Monday.
