Schmid looks ahead to Dynamo in hot Houston

A few quotes provided by the club from coach Sigi Schmid, looking ahead to the Sounders game tomorrow in Houston:

On Houston Dynamo) “Obviously they are a team that is very good on set pieces. Brad Davis leads the league in assists and he serves probably the best ball in the league and he is somebody that is very, very dangerous. And then they got big bodies, [Geoff] Cameron, [Bobby] Boswell and [Andrew] Hainault and [Brian] Ching and Will Bruin or [Cam] Weaver, whoever is out there they got big bodies. So we got to make sure we limit the amount of free kicks we give away. We got to make sure we mark up well when we do and we also know it’s a team right now that point-wise the games are becoming more important to them and they are a team that is becoming very hungry and they are a good team, they are a quality team. It’s hard for me to understand why they are in the position they are in because I think their quality is very high.”

On past week of training) “We are a little more back in the rhythm now from the standpoint that we had a training session on Saturday of last week, we had a game on Tuesday, we had the training session here on Thursday, a training session sort of today so now we have had four training sessions in the last six, seven days, or four of what I call good soccer outings, which will help us get back into the rhythm. I don’t think we were in our rhythm in Panama. Hopefully we will find our rhythm here.”

On playing in Houston) “It’s tough. The heat is a factor. It’s a tight field. They know how to play on their field. They’re a team that is an aggressive team that’s going to put you under pressure and in the past we haven’t always dealt with those teams very well. This is another step up for us and a challenge. I thought we dealt with them well in Seattle. We were unfortunate to only get a tie. Now we got to deal with them just as well here and deal with the tight spaces.”
