Tide seeks new investors, 2012 season in doubt

I'll try to have more on this later, but here's a release just in from the club:

Tacoma Tide FC officially announces today the formation of a group called the “Tacoma Soccer Leaders (TSL).” The TSL's initial purpose is to aid the Tacoma United Soccer Leagues PDL franchise, the Tide, in finding new owners / investors so the club can continue beyond the just completed season. The TSL are a grassroots group of local soccer people that has formed outside of the Tide organization but is working with the current club owner Mike Jennings. The TSL will also assist the indoor soccer Tacoma Stars of the PASL as needed.

Tide owner Mike Jennings today reveals that he will no longer continue to operate Tacoma Tide FC without new local owners and investors joining him in the financial responsibilities of running a PDL franchise.

With a 2012 Tacoma season now in doubt, as well as the future of higher level soccer in South Sound, the TSL is seeking help from the general Tacoma soccer public in finding leads to parties who might be interested in talking with Jennings about partnering with him or purchasing the club outright.

Tacoma Tide FC have played in the greater Tacoma area (University Place) since 2006. The club just completed its sixth season of play in July.

The TSL is open to hearing from public and private groups interested in saving soccer in South Sound, including possibly relocating the club to Puyallup, Sumner or another nearby community that might embrace the team.
