Fucito trains with stitches under eye

We talked to him and coach Sigi Schmid today about the incident.

FUCITOOn the stitches: It definitely catches people’s attention. It’s a good ice-breaker.

On the incident: I just remember shielding it in the corner. … Yeah, I think it was a dirty play. I won’t say who it was, but I just remember shilding the one guy and the other guy came in. I just remember seeing an elbow come in and hit me in the face and you guys saw the blood. … That the type of player he is in gereral. I had no personal thing with him during the game. But the tends to be a little bit rough at times.

On if he feels well-supported since the incident: Absolutely, yeah. We have some pretty good pictures to send to the league if necessary. The ref, I don’t know why I got the foul. But other than that I thought everything was handled well.

SIGI SCHMIDOn if the club intends to pursue the matter: We’re not the kind of club that’s going to cry and point fingers or anything like that. So if U.S. Soccer has decided that they didn’t need to look at it anyfurther, then we’re not going to do anything.

On Hernandez: He was with me in LA for a while, and I know Daniel. He’s a competitor. He’s a competitive palyer who’s going to battle , who’s going to win. Like all players that are competitive he’s going to be a little disappointed when it’s not going his way. But Daniel’s a hard player, but he’s not generally not a cheap player.
