LA win prevents Sounders from gaining ground

The Sounders 2-1 win at New England keeps Seattle (16-6-9) in the Supporters Shield race -- but barely -- seven points behind Los Angeles with each teams having three games to play.

The Galaxy dodged a bullet Saturday by coming from behind for a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake at Home Depot Center on Saturday ... with the winning goal an own goal

With the loss, RSL falls six points behind Seattle for second place in the Western Conference.

Seattle's win also assured the Sounders of a spot among the top three teams in the West, meaning they will bypass the play-win wildcard games.
