The Sounders have concluded training today for their U.S. Open Cup final Tuesday night at CenturyLink Field against the Chicago Fire.
The prime news today was that both midfielder Mauro Rosales (knee) and defender James Riley (concussion) trained, although coach Sigi Schmid said their status for the final isn't yet certain.
"(Riley) did everything today," Schmid said. "He did some heading and so forth. So if there’s no repercussions he should be OK for tomorrow. (Mauro) same thing. He played the ball today with his right foot, consistently played it. (Fitness coach Dave Tenney) worked with him at the end, so we’ll see how he feels. If he’s able to go he’s able to go (unrestricted minutes). Both of those are going to be gametime decisions."
"... We always put out a group that we expect to win the game, so from that standpoint we have guys who are ready, we’ve played guys in those different positions as well, we’ve played without Mauro the last couple of weeks, and without James as well, so we’re confident."
I'll be back soon with more from Schmid.
