Just one game left for every team in MLS

This is a pretty interesting moment in the MLS season ... it that it is that rare spot when all 18 clubs have played the same number of games: 33, meaning everyone has one left.

This parity will remain for only a matter of hours, as Philadelphia visits New York at 5 p.m. (and televised on ESPN2). With a win, the Red Bulls will wrap up the final unclaimed playoff spot. That, of course, would eliminate Portland and Chicago.

Here's a look at what's left of the MLS regular season.

The Sounders resume training this morning for their final regular-season game: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Chivas USA. (I should be back with some news from the club in the early afternoon.)

The games they'll be watching most closely are the ones that will determine their opening playoff opponent: Portland at Real Salt Lake and Dallas at San Jose. RSL and Dallas have the same number of points, and if it stays that way after those games, the tie-breaker goes to Salt Lake. The regular season ends Sunday with Los Angeles at Houston.

The playoffs begin Wednesday with the first wild-card match.

The Sounders will begin their away-and-home, aggregate-score series either Oct. 29 or 30.
