Schmid says new MLS ball "moves a little bit"

MLS is introducing a new ball this season: the Adidas Prime, taking over for the controversial Jabulani.

Early in training I asked Fredy Montero if he noticed any difference in the way the ball played. He said no.

However, the question was raised again today with Sounders coach Sigi Schmid, and he gave a more detailed answer:

The new ball is pretty light. I know the old ball, I know everybody complained that it moved. This ball moves a little bit too. It’s a little bit of a throwback – Adidas isn’t going to like me saying this – it looks like the old Tango soccer ball the way it’s designed. But it’s just like fashion: Everything comes full circle. If you keep it long enough in your closet, it will come back – even those leisure suits you still have.
