The news of the day was the Sounders signing draft picks Andrew Duran and Babayele Sodade. However, there those moves do not set the roster, as there are certainly subtractions and additions ahead, probably as early as tomorrow.
Here's some of what coach Sigi Schmid had to say after training today:
About the signings: I thought Duran got better as we went on, as moved forward all the time. I thought he became more and more consistent, and that was something that we were looking for. And then with Sodade he just offers us something different than we have in our other forwards. We feel he is still capable of improving and learning and adding to his game. So we felt that was one that made sense to us: He is a player that could develop and offer us something different up front from what we have.
About roster changes ahead: I think we’re getting close. There still might be some subtractions, yeah, for sure. There are still some things in the works right now. Being roster compliant doesn’t mean that you have to have everybody signed. You can still sign guys after March 1. We have some openings still to sign some people, and still have to make some final resolutions on some other people.
