Here's some of what Sounders forward Fredy Montero had to say tonight after scoring his first goal of the season -- a 35-yarder into the top far corner -- in Seattle's 2-0 win over Los Angeles:
On scoring) It feels really good. It means a lot for me – the first one. And hopefully I can score more.
On the goal's goal-of-the-week quality) When you have the opportunity to shoot at that distance, you just try, you know? Thank God that ball went into the net.
On hanging tough after near-misses) I think I have to give the credit to my teammates because after those chances the only thing they said was, ‘Come on. It’s coming. Keep trying. The next one you have to put in.’ That was all I did: tried to be focused into the game and finally I scored that goal.
On his relief) I was looking for this. I was looking to score a goal from Day One. This is OK. You don’t know exactly the reason, but finally I scored. I’m happy about that.
